How Does Eurythmy Therapy Work?
Eurythmy Therapy is part of anthroposophic medicine which views human beings to have a fourfold constitution:

  1. Physical Body: the tangible, material aspect of a person, the physical form that interacts with the world through the senses. It encompasses all biological processes and physical health.

  2. Vitality (or Life Force): our energy or life force. It is known as prana in yoga, qi in tai chi, or etheric body in anthroposophy. It is the subtle energy that feels plentiful when we are well and rested, and depleted when we are tired or ill. It is responsible for all regenerative processes.

  3. Emotions (or Soul): all emotional and psychological aspects, including feelings, desires, and moods. Our emotions are an accumulation of our individual experiences, guide our reactions, and are key to our emotional wellbeing.

  4. Core Self (or Spirit): the core essence and individuality of a person. It guides our sense of worth and our values. We experience our core self as our identity.

These four aspects are interconnected, each aspect influencing the others. When all four are in balance and in harmony with one another we experience health and wellbeing. When only one of them is out of balance with the others, we feel unwell or ill. Eurythmy Therapy integrates and harmonises the four aspects, and it is the only movement therapy that works on all four aspects of the constitution. Regular practice can resolve blockages, restore energetic balance, and enhance the body's self-healing capabilities.

What to Expect in a Eurythmy Therapy Session
A typical Eurythmy Therapy session begins with a conversation where the therapist discusses your health concerns and goals. Based on this discussion, the therapist selects specific exercises tailored to your individual needs. These exercises are performed in a calm and supportive environment. You will receive a write-up of your exercises to practice at home and make the exercises part of your daily routine. Regular practice is expected to lead to long-term improvements in health. Clients to Eurythmy Therapy frequently report that daily practice helps them feel empowered in their healing journey.
